Grandparent principal carers - please encourage them to update their details

The Department of Education and Training (DET) has reported that more than one million families have completed their call to action in MyGov, which is a great outcome.

Those families that have not yet to registered for the new Child Care Subsidy should do this as soon as possible by following our simple checklist here.

New Child Care Subsidy - How is the early learning sector coping?

Over the last few months, the new Child Care Subsidy (CCS) has been the main focus of the early learning sector, with the implementation date set for 2 July this year.
ACA ran a short sharp survey to ask our members how they were feeling about the impending implementation of the new Child Care Subsidy as the transition date approached, and the key areas for which they needed guidance. Many thanks to those of you who took the time to complete our quick quiz!

How to process subsidised preschool/kindergarten hours

By now early learning services would have received an email from the Department of Education and Training (DET) which included a link to a fact sheet about the activity test preschool exemption - that is, the 36 hours of subsidised care for children attending a preschool/kindergarten program at a centre based day care service (for those families that pass the income test).
 
We know that some families have had difficulty applying for this entitlement via Centrelink, and this has caused great confusion.
