Following the announcement from Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews on Sunday 27th September, Melbourne-based early learning (child care) services are now open to all children and their families.
A Childcare Permit is no longer required from families, and the care can be both an existing or new arrangement. However employees of early learning services are still required to have Permitted Worker Permits to commute to work - we recommend that service providers check the date on page 2 to ensure the permit has not expired.
Families are allowed to leave their homes to take their children to child care, and the 5km rule does not apply for this scenario.
The new restrictions for Melbourne are outlined on the Victorian Department of Health & Human Services website here.
Melbourne's early learning sector is feeling relieved and excited about this step forward, and once again being able to support all families.
