The Australian Childcare Alliance (ACA) is a not-for-profit, member-funded organisation advocating for the future of Australia's children.
We work on behalf of long day care owners and operators to ensure families and their children have an opportunity to access affordable, high quality early learning services throughout Australia.

Thanks to feedback from our members about absent sessions for ongoing families during the transition period of the new Child Care Subsidy (CCS), ACA was able to raise this issue with the Department of Education and Training (DET) with a view to getting it resolved as soon as possible.

We are pleased to inform members that following the concerns raised by ACA and the sector, the Department has decided to manually process a significant number of sessions in which the CCS was not applied for an absent session.

DET have informed ACA that these backpayments will be paid directly to the early learning service provider, and should be processed over the next week.

As previously outlined, DET has informed us that it was not their intention for continuing families to receive less subsidy and be worse off under these circumstances as a result of the new CCS.

This quick resolution of this issue has demonstrated the power of ACA's proactive stance while regularly engaging with government, along with our strong relationships with our members.

It's really important to notify us when you are experiencing problems or systemic issues, to allow us to address these at the appropriate level of government.

Thanks again to those members who got in touch with us about this matter.

We encourage you to continue talking to your local state body about any ongoing issues you may have.
